Bridlington Old Town
Great food, shopping and a historic experience.
|
Without doubt many thousands of visitors to Bridlington fail to enjoy the full experience that Bridlington has to offer due to their not being aware of Bridlingtons Old Town.
Tucked away close to the historic Priory and Bayle museum Bridlington Old Town which recently featured in BBC2's Antiques Road Trip offers the opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy a casual browse around the antique shops and galleries sampling the wonderful food on offer at the Bistro's and Restaurants along one of the best preserved Georgian high streets in the country. We must not forget the range of Public Houses offering sustenance for the weary Old Town shopper where you can continue to soak up the Old Town Atmosphere.
Bridlington Old Town is especially exciting to visit during their festivals, the summer festival, (usually around July) provides a wealth of concerts, exhibitions and events to suit all. The Christmas festival provides a wonderful Dickensian feel to the Old Town area and is well worth taking time out to experience. Many other attractions include a Victorian Street Organ, children's rides mulled wine and a fabulous festive feel. This year visitors were invited to go along in period costume and join in a truly wonderful start to the Christmas Season. Look out for it next year and ensure that you start your Christmas full of good old Dickensian cheer and even traditional mince pies and mulled wine.
While the festivals add an extra special enchantment to Bridlington Old Town it is an area which is often neglected by the Bridlington visitor yet it offers a wonderful shopping and dining experience which truly shouldn't be missed.
